The Power of Covenant Prayer Frances Frangipane
Who is Frances Frangipane?
Francis is the founder of River of Life Ministries in Cedar Rapids IA and has traveled throughout the world ministering to thousands of pastors and intercessors from many backgrounds.
Francis’ heartfelt prayer is to see established in every city, Christlike pastors and intercessors, united before God, revealing the love of Christ to their communities.
Over the past decades, Francis has served on a number of other ministry boards. However, in recent years he has gradually resigned from these various boards. As of June 2009, he has also retired from his position as senior pastor of River of Life Ministries.
In this more simplified life, Frangipane is devoting himself to prayer and the ministry of God’s word.
His first book, Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God, was a compilation of his essays and sermons. It was published in 1985. He wrote his second book, The Three Battlegrounds, in 1989 when asked to speak on spiritual warfare at a conference in Kansas City. Both these books became best sellers.
Since 1985, he has written fourteen books including four In Christ’s Image Training manuals, which were developed for his online school, plus a number of study booklets.

Jesus was tempted by the devil to turn a stone into bread while He was fasting in the wilderness. He quoted Scripture to the devil to fend him off. Jesus taught us that we must take His Word deep inside us daily. We are more than just physical beings who need food to survive. We are spiritual creations who need to commune with our God every day.
Most of us are too busy to eat properly. Busyness also keeps us from praying. Busyness keeps us from taking time to study, meditate, and hide God’s Word in our hearts. We have an epidemic in the church of spiritually malnourished people who don’t meet Jesus in the secret place daily in the Word and prayer. The admonitions in the Scripture are numerous and pointed. Meditate on the Word and pray. Your spiritual life depends on it.

The Fire that Consumes
Prayer has an incredible power to arrest and change the purposes of God. The prayers of righteous men relieve the stroke of His power. We can witness both the possibilities and the necessity of prayer when we see how the prayer of God’s saints brought about a change in God’s plans.
-Abraham prayed and God healed Abimeleck, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare Children.
-Jonah prayed and Nineveh prayed and God’s decree against the city was changed.
-Moses prayed forty-days and nights and God’s anger was kindled against Aaron to not destroy him.
-Hezekiah prayed and God added fifteen years to his life.
All of these people knew how to pray and how to prevail in prayer. Everything is possible to men and women who know how to pray, and it is still possible today.

Provoking Thoughts on Prayer
“Your Father knows what things you need before you ask.” Then why ask? The idea of prayer is not first to get answers from God; prayer is perfect and complete oneness with God. If we only pray because we want answers, we will eventually get huffy with God. The answers come every time, but not always in the way we expect. We are not here to prove God answers prayer; we are here to be living monuments of God’s grace.
When prayer seems to be unanswered, beware of trying to fix blame somewhere. You will find there is a reason, which is a deep instruction to you, not to anyone else.

Provoking Thoughts on Prayer
Drawing close to God will give you personal rest and power in prayer. Draw near to God then it will be easy to pray in faith.
Let me remind you, when God calls you into the school of intercession, it is always more for your own benefit than others. He is drawing you near for deeper and more critical purpose. It is to be trained by the Holy Spirit. Here’s the question of the day, the month, the year, and maybe for your lifetime: Am I trainable? You have to be trained by the Holy Spirit to be still, to love, and to pray and believe.
Each one of us must learn to give ourselves to the “Ministry of the Interior”–it is here that we are trained for service by the Holy Spirit. How are you doing stewarding this ministry?
